Regarding fastening screws on the gooseneck from virpil. Is it the external two screw on the gooseneck, or the two screws on top “inside” near the connector. I need to fasten “something”.

edit they were all loose - tightened all of them.

And context - my virpil grip is loose even when screwed on tight to the gooseneck.

the two screws at the top and bottom secure the respective aluminum threaded inserts to the extension. the two screws inside the top threaded connector secure electrical connector to the threaded insert. IF you are running a TM stick grip its reccomended to remove the two screws on the electrical connector so you can put an offset (twist) in the grip

it also reduces the chances of bending the pins on a TM grip as there is no centering/alignment feature on the extension

Running a CM2 grip from virpil. I should perhaps losen the electrical connection screws if I want to run it offset? Or is that a feature in the grip perhaps - that the connector is already able to twist.

I build a Flight/Drive Rig like this. Everything stays in place when flying or driving except the Rhino. It is mounted with a Quick release system.

the normal grip mount that is included is 3d printed. the upgraded one is machined aluminum. If you are like me and swap grips/extentions alot, or just want piece of mind, spring for the aluminum one

honestly, i'd recommend getting the aluminum grip mount regardless. A lot of stress will go into that part of the rhino over time, and it's one less thing to worry about in the long run

Because, so far, even with 20cm extensions my printed connector holds strong. I don’t think it will fail anytime soon (knock on wood)

Not self printed. The first one that came with the Rhino broke, kind of freakish, it snapped forward with force and hit my "cockpit dash". It broke. Second one I had printed, it broke from stress. I understand this is not normal, but I would advise getting an aluminum one... preferably with an offset.

Have ordered the aluminum grip mount, but in the meantime (or even once the aluminum version is mounted) any suggestions for keeping the 3D printed VKB adapter solidly attached to the base grip adapter? Loctite blue? Something else?

IDK, but I thought Loctite makes at least some plastics brittle. Haven't tried it on 3D printed stuff yet though.

Yeah, that’s my concern. Plus if it melts into the plastic/resin could be non-reversible.

Could maybe make the joint tight as desired, then drill it for a metal side-screw. Similar to how the metal pulleys have a set screw, but drilled right into the inner piece too. Or kinda like a castle nut / cotter pin joint. Never tried this personally in printed parts, so it might be better to use sacrificial test parts first. Just an idea.

I think I’d worry about a thin metal screw/pin working like a lever, but a larger diameter one would need correspondingly sized holes which might weaken the mounts. I’ll try doing some research on what works for all the plastic plumbing connectors.

Maybe Vibra-Tite VC-3 Tape for locking the 3D printed grip mount threads? Says it's an anti-vibration tape (no curing) that's supposed to work with plastics and metals and be reversible. Honestly, im not too worried about the adapter becoming loose. Ive had mine solidly clamped against a custom 3d printed thread adapter for my custom extension. Its been going strong for a year now
