After an update Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Complete (GOG) won't launch

HI, HoMM III worked fine earlier, though I've had a couple of crashes. But now, after an update it won't launch at all. It says it's launching, but then nothing happens and it goes back to the state where I could try launching it again. Log file attached.

back up your saves (DO NOT SKIP THIS)
turn on dxvknvapi
install vcrun2012 through winetricks
try launching it again

if it doesn't work delete this directory:

/home/jussi/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/default/Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Complete

switch to proton-ge instead of wine-ge
make sure umu is on
install vcrun2012 again

Thanks, but I actually got it working by pinning the version of the game to the previous version. Thought I tried it before, but probably chose the wrong version.

Hey. I've got the exact same problem.

I follow RawToast advice to turn on dxvknapi, install vcrun2012 with UMU on, and using Proton-GE. But no luck. It says "Launching" but actually stays on that state.

Note: I realized it also works if I uninstall and re-install a previous version*
