Beyond Good and Evil will not boot
I bought this game from GOG for Steam Deck and Linux desctop (Fedora 40 workstation) but it does not boot saying "EAX is not installed, Please install creative EAX" How do I solve this issue?

try using either wine-ge or proton-ge
- wine manager in the sidebar, install the latest
- configure it in the game settings
- delete this folder
/home/gamaster_19/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/default/Beyond Good Evil

hmmm, weird, I tried with proton-ge and I got the same error, then I deleted the prefix folder, switched to wine-ge, and now it worked for me

one thing I notices comparing your logs with mine is that i have the game mode check disabled in the game settings
maybe try that too
I don't see anything else different apart from that

here people suggest to get the eax.dll from somewhere else and put it in the game install folder https://www.gog.com/forum/beyond_good_and_evil/launch_error

it sounds like something in wine/proton is telling the game that the sound card supports EAX so it wants to use it, but then it fails to run because it can't find that
I wonder if using an older version of wine-ge makes it work, can you try this?
- install wine-ge 7-43 using the wine manager
- delete the prefix
/home/gamaster_19/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/default/Beyond Good Evil
- set wine-ge 7-43 for the game
- launch it

hey, did you ever find a fix for this OP?
having same issue, been searching online for hours with no solution. tried all the things listed here already
nvm. just using lutris for this one
works fine
