Making it work: a slightly mis-sized blazer

So I got a great deal on a Lands End Harris Tweed jacket that ended up being ever so slightly mis-sized.

As you can see the shoulders are a touch big and the waist is a touch small.
But I intend to make it work anyways.

My plan is: Take out what little padding there is in the shoulders to minimize any weird dimples or folds, and have a tailor take out the waist as much as is possible. Take out the lining to reduce structure even further. The aim would be to make it look like kind of a slouchy professor-type jacket as light outerwear for spring and fall. I might only be able to make it work unbuttoned, but it is what it is.

What do y’all think?
