Automatically connect to Wireguard VPN

Hello, as the title says, is it possible to automatically connect to Wireguard VPN when trying to do a backup ? Or do I have to manually connect and then backup everytime (or just keep perma connected to wireguard) ? Thanks

On the official wireguard app you can choose specific apps to have run over the VPN. I don't think you can on demand turn it on and off, but you can just choose immich as the wireguard app to include then just leave always on.
