gamescope launch option not working

I've added

gamescope -mangoapp %command%

gamescope -mangoapp %command%

to Cyberpunk 2077's launch options from Steam but the game does not successfully launch with this and goes back to the Play button after a few seconds. The game is able to launch normally without any launch options. I'd like to use gamescope to eventually enable hdr but even the option without that doesn't work. What can I do to get the gamescope option working?
