which env does immich_server need?

Currently in the compose file we source the .env file https://github.com/immich-app/immich/blob/main/docker/docker-compose.yml#L23

From the sample env file https://github.com/immich-app/immich/blob/main/docker/example.env which of these env variables does the immich server needs set? I am trying to re organize how env files are setup would be helpful if we knew exactly what env variables are needed for immich server.

ML container also seems to be sourcing the .env file: https://github.com/immich-app/immich/blob/v1.124.2/docker/docker-compose.yml#L44

However I do not see any env vars in the sample env file that are related to ML container.

specifying the same env variable in multiple locations seems troublesome. Why would you want to name the DATABASE_USER in multiple files? Seems like it could cause issues when trying to change a value.

i had a bunch of duplicate .env files so I was moving away from using .env only for immich. I have a global .env file with shared values such as timezone, DNS servers etc

you're certainly free to alter your installation as you see fit, however straying from the official documentation will always make obtaining support when something doesn't work more challenging
