Hi. Is there anyone here who could accurately describe the FFB effects currently occurring in War Thunder on your device? I'm seriously considering buying it, but War Thunder is my main title and I play almost only this game, so the purchase would be dedicated specifically to this game. I would be grateful for a detailed description of the effects, in what situations they occur and whether there are any possibilities of modifying them and, if so, what. If someone could record a video showing how FFB effects work in War Thunder and post it here, that would be perfect.
Three months ago I became the owner of the Moza AB9 device. As I was not very familiar with the nuances of these systems, I chose a compact and ready-to-use device at a relatively reasonable price with a short order fulfillment time. I currently regret my choice a bit because in War Thunder FFB is practically non-existent on this device. There are no real FFB force effects, just some random vibrations present that don't satisfy me and rather just hinder the gameplay. I don't know if it makes sense to wait for Moza to solve the problem, because since I have AB9, practically nothing has changed in this matter, contact with the support department is practically non-existent, the answers provided are not at all related to the questions asked. So I'm seriously considering changing my device, but I'd like to make sure I'll have some use for it in War Thunder.
Moza ripped off the open source code of the Rhino. So I suspect this is a War Thunder problem rather than a FFB base problem. I donβt know much about War Thunder and almost never see anyone talk about it here, so I am afraid you would experience the same effects on a Rhino.
The dynamic spring from WT works with the Rhino, before the patch it was limp and only static spring was available. I'll have to fire up WT to check/remember what exact effects the spring provides. But from the top of my head there was the stiffening spring vs speed and when rolling to the sides the joystick would want to lean with the roll. The caveat is that WT FFB implementation is ancient and was probably targeted to MSFFB2.
Two weeks ago I took the opportunity to buy an old, used Microsoft FFB2 joystick to test its performance in War Thunder. My main computer freezes when I try to run the game with MS FFB2 connected. It boots somehow on the laptop, but FFB doesn't work properly. There are additional vibration effects when shooting, and every few seconds the effect of a constant spring appears, only to disappear for a few seconds and so on. So another unhappy purchase, good thing it's not that expensive.
An interesting fact is that about a month ago, I simply turned on my computer in the morning and launched the game. To my surprise, when I trimmed the airplane in a test flight, I noticed that the stick moved as the trim settings changed and that the centering spring action was slightly different than usual. These effects were also felt on every other plane and despite the lack of vibration effects when using the weapons, flaps, landing gear and brakes, they were very satisfying and, in my opinion, sufficient. Moreover, in the hangar, the stick changed its position by itself when selecting individual machines placed in the crews. It worked fine for the whole day, i.e. for several hours, but the next day after restarting the computer, these effects were gone and only the hated, random vibration remained. Since then, I have been looking for a way to restore these effects, searching for information on the far corners of the Internet, writing to the support departments of both Gaijin and Moza, trying to modify and add entries to the system registry according to the instructions of Nutu Coman on the Microchip forum and all I managed to achieve was frustration. I noticed that the dynamic spring effect occurs after restarting the device in the middle of a game, but only for 5-6 seconds and then disappears every time. Is there any way to make these effects last longer? Is there any way to get these extra effects to work again like they did on that one lucky day a few weeks ago? Is the only solution for me to return this Moza equipment and buy a VP base?
If itβs still possible to return and refund your ab9 I suggest you to do it, and try Rhino or other similar products like ffbeast. At least they actually made by great ppl who really know what theyβre doing.
Thank you for your valuable comments. My choice was dictated by the ease of purchase, price and compact design, allowing it to be mounted to the desk top, next to the keyboard and mouse. I cannot afford to build the entire stand at the moment and I regret it very much because I really appreciate the passion, commitment, knowledge and experience of the people involved in creating such projects. Another obstacle is the language barrier, which could make it difficult to understand how to build it all, what parts need to be purchased and where it is best to do it. This whole situation makes me feel so discouraged that I don't even want to play (without FFB).
Honestly, you can definitely use a normal rhino with a desk mount. For a clear mind i would definitely add bottom supports if you do (extend the desk mount to contact the floor, through metal or (wooden) props) but it should work. If you have a wooden desk that is, wouldn't trust it with a cardboard one

The introduction of the FFB Telemetry mode is announced for the first quarter of this year, but I think it is a lot of work to extract the necessary telemetry data from the game that the game does not send, interference with the game code, the need to cooperate with Gaijin programmers, and they probably won't get away with it anytime soon, if it happens at all. Direct Input mode would be satisfactory for me at the moment and it seems to me that it would not require as much work as the Telemetry FFB mode, only probably some corrections, especially since it started working for me spontaneously for one day by a complete accident. Also for several other users. It seems to me that this is some trivial matter, a trivial thing. It's a pity that there is little or no interest in this topic from both Moza and Gaijin.
Ah no, I meant telemffb which is an additional program designed for the rhino. It adds effects that some Sims don't have by themselves, such as gun and flap vibration in the case of dcs.
My guess is that since these additional effects are not generated by the game in Direct Input mode, they are generated in external software such as telemffb based on telemetry data downloaded from the game in real time.
I am aware of this. It sends some telemetry data, but not what is needed. It would probably be necessary to change something in the game code, so I don't think that, as Moza announced, they will do it in the first quarter of this year, i.e. within two months, especially if they have not yet managed to master the simpler Direct Input mode in this game.
How much money do you have to prepare for such a base, without a handle, without a stick - just the base with a power supply and the necessary cables and software, ready to connect the TM F-16C stick? What is the waiting time and the place of sending the shipment? Would I have to buy anything separately? Would I have to make any parts or assembly myself?
