Alan Wake's American Nightmare (GOG Edition)

I had troubles getting Alan Wake's American Nightmare (GOG Edition) to run in Heroic. After some digging I found this discord thread. In Heroic Version 2.15.2 the alternative executable is enough to get the game going. I was wondering if this is a bug in Heroic's handling of GOG games? The GOG edition of the game offers multiple launch options. But the one that should start the game isn't working.

I don't own the game on GOG so I'm not even sure how the log looks for the launcher could you share log of the attempt when you launch the game without the override?

By looking into the log I figured out that the Launch Alan Wake's American Nightmare.lnk Windows link file is simply missing. It seems like this Link is created for every GOG game on first time launch. During the Installing Redistributables (GOG) step. But this step is not happening with Alan Wake's American Nightmare.

right.. interesting in the meantime you can simply override the executable to actual .exe file

Sure or create the link myself both approaches work.

you're going to want to enable all 3 of these while you're at it, switch to GE-Proton and enable UMU

Should I generally enable this option for every game? If it runs with default Proton why should I switch? UMU is enabled.

Yes because GE-Proton is built with UMU compatibility in mind. more often than not, stock Protons have led to error reports here
