Facial recognition on Bazzite
I did a bit of searching online, I couldn't find a clear answer as to whether Bazzite supports a Windows Hello-esque IR facial recognition feature or not.
WThere is a github project https://github.com/boltgolt/howdy which was last updated 9 months ago and the last build was in 2020. So I think the chances of Windows Hello IR facial recognition working in Bazzite, let alone any modern version of Linux, are pretty slim.

AWorks fine, I use it on Bazzite
ABut you do need to manually install + configure it

Can we get his added to the base image? I tried installing via a Fedora distrobox and the box does not have access to the hardware camera and it fails to setup the auth. Plus I also wonder is the box has the nessicary PAM access to support OS authentication. I can’t find an easy way to install it from a COPR via rpm-ostree.

AKind of mom: we have windows hello at home
ANot sure if something changed, but for the past few months, it's been extremely reliable for me.
ABut I also only use it for login, not sudo or anything else
ZI've ran into a roadblock. I see the system isn't creating a folder for howdy in /lib64/security. So far, down the wiki trail, this is the stopping point I've hit.
sudo howdy test - works
sudo howdy add - works, gives verbose comfirmation it completed
at the login page, or in terminal doing a "sudo -i" it doesn't work.

ZUsing a Logitech Brio. IR is working fine, I see it light up, and the test shows it working fine.
Adid you install howdy beta?
Ahowdy beta puts config files in
/etc, which is writableAZyeah, i used that one, per the wiki's suggestion

ZI ran a "sudo -i" this was the first time the IR lit up upon testing login
ZI ended up just doing multiple "sudo howdy add" and looking all directions.
ZWORKED with "sudo -i"
Zlock screen worked.
rebooted, login screen did not

sudo -iAand lock screen works perfectly fine
Alet me try a reboot just to make sure
Zhmm... do I need to do the SDDM stuff in combination with the KDE
Aso after reboot, the initial login screen is not supposed to work with howdy. you need to login at least once via password.
Aor at least, that's my understandign of it
