It would be better to use GE-Proton instead of system Wine

I should note I've tried various runners. I'll re-attach a new log

based on the lutris script https://lutris.net/games/install/9893/view, I would copy Kingdom Come Deliverance/bin/Win64Shared/amd_ags_x64.dll and both d3dcompiler_XX.dll files to Kingdom Come Deliverance/bin/Win64 and try again

Good idea to check Lutris. Unfortunately, no difference in getting it to run

Try installing the d3dcompilers via Winetricks The log is complaining a lot for them

Fewer d3dcompiler notices, but no changes to the game launching

Running just wine ./KingdomCome.exe in the binary folder, and the game launches successfully. So it leaves me wondering what Heroic is doing differently to it, and how to fix it. I have reverted to Heroic version 2.14.1, and the game launches just fine. Any idea what changes between 2.14 and 2.16 could affect game launching?

I see the new version is adding umu to the mix, go to the game's settings > advanced > disable umu

That is definitely something I tried, though I don't have the log to hand to prove it

can you share a log without umu to compare the 2 versions?
