No, and a lot of the new models being developed don't stream at all any more, actually. For example, Whisper/Nvidia Parakeet/Nvidia Canary don't support streaming, and instead recommend applications implement their own streaming by sending a request every <n> seconds while continuing recording (e.g. using multiple threads).

Notice how the completion_tokens are 256; the model wasn't actually done, but got cut off because max_tokens defaults to 256 as of a few weeks ago. You'll want to specify a higher maxTokens in your request in order to allow the model to finish it's thought.

Not sure about the latter but I'm guessing the leading <think> tag is missing because it's part of the prompt used by Workers AI (this is what tools like llama.cpp do in order to force the model to start it's response with thinking).

You wouldn't want to use AI to compress, you'd want to use something like WebP, AVIF, etc

Now if you want to compress inside Workers, that's a little bit more tricky, but you can look up Cloudflare Images. You get free (I think) image transformations so long as you don't store images there

I'm not sure if R1 works well with tools at all, based on what I've heard. But the missing opening <think> is probably a bug, I can't imagine it's intended.
