1. Ensure the microSD card is formatted as FAT32.
2. Rename the compiled firmware or the firmware downloaded from GitHub to
"firmware.bin" (note: make sure the computer system's extension settings are
clear, as some users hide the extension, and "firmware.bin" actually displays
as "firmware").
3. Copy "firmware.bin" to the root directory of the microSD card.
4. Insert the microSD card into the motherboard's slot, power on the
motherboard, and the bootloader will automatically update the firmware.
5. The status LED will blink during update.
6. When it stops and the file is renamed "FIRMWARE.CUR", the update is
complete.

Step 6 is how you would verify.

ok the status led is not blinking i have tried different usb c cables but the kraken still wont just take the firmware should i try unplugging the usb to the pi from the kraken?
TheTik
TheTik•5mo ago
Yeah, try unplugging everything from the kraken other than power

i still dont think its working imma try a different sd card thats 128mb
TheTik
TheTik•5mo ago
Hope thats big enough for the firmware file
DiamondHead

Yeah, that is the best next step. If they won't/can't help you may try reflashing the bootloader: https://github.com/bigtreetech/BIGTREETECH-Kraken/blob/master/Firmware/README.md

got it flashed and everything but i have this error now

DiamondHeadOP•4mo ago
is this because i dont have a hotend fan?
TheTik
TheTik•4mo ago
pretty sure you have to have a hotend fan
DiamondHead
DiamondHeadOP•4mo ago
chube air on takeoff does not need a hotend fan @blacksmithforlife 🇺🇸 do you have a solution for this?
blacksmithforlife
blacksmithforlife•4mo ago
debug.zip please
cgrr [VC 3.4 hybrid 500]
You need to put in the value for the fan in the config, even if you are not running one Something like this: [heater_fan toolhead_cooling_fan] pin: toolboard_t0:PB1 max_power: 0.995 shutdown_speed: 0.0 heater_temp: 75

where would that be in ratos? b/c not everything is in the normal printer.cfg i also need to set the part cooling to use both 4pin headers on the kraken
blacksmithforlife
blacksmithforlife•4mo ago
that is not the debug.zip - you can download from the sidebar in the configurator
DiamondHead
DiamondHeadOP•4mo ago
is this the correct file?
blacksmithforlife
blacksmithforlife•4mo ago
yes
cgrr [VC 3.4 hybrid 500]
In the printer.cfg.
DiamondHead
DiamondHeadOP•4mo ago
where in it its not like the normal klipper config its missing a load of stuff
cgrr [VC 3.4 hybrid 500]
I am not sure what you are asking, printer.cfg is a separate file.
DiamondHead
DiamondHeadOP•4mo ago
i know but ratos puts suff in different places like there is no z drive ration in the printer . cfg
cgrr [VC 3.4 hybrid 500]
As mentioned in the commissioning guide, you do not change anything in ratos, all additions and modifications are to be made in printer.cfg.

DiamondHeadOP•4mo ago
ok so what should i add to fix that error about there not being a hot end fan
cgrr [VC 3.4 hybrid 500]
I already gave you the answer above, you need to put in a value even if you are not running one.
DiamondHead
DiamondHeadOP•4mo ago
ok do you think that will solve the error?
cgrr [VC 3.4 hybrid 500]
Yes.
DiamondHead
DiamondHeadOP•4mo ago
ok and then what shoiuld i add to make it for part cooling it uses both 4 pins on kraken?
cgrr [VC 3.4 hybrid 500]
I think you said you are running IDEX, I don't have any experience with dual toolheads
DiamondHead
DiamondHeadOP•4mo ago
no idex just the single tool head has 2 fans
DiamondHead
DiamondHeadOP•4mo ago
@cgrr [VC 3.4 hybrid 500] still have the error

Post you printer.config and stay in one channel, not two.
