Frostpunk GOG does not work

Frostpunk installed from GOG does not work at all, however it works on the same system when installed from EGS (Heroic EGS)... I want to play it from GOG since I have all the DLCs there and achievements. I have my doubts why it does not work... and it's probably Nvidia. Any help would be welcome. https://0x0.st/8VkE.log

Some thoughts: your Bazzite version is out of date, but if you can run another game, then that’s not yet a major factor Do you have the EGS version also installed? If so, can you provide a lot for that too?

I just installed it (iso) and updated from their repo (I could rebase from stable to latest) ... My main system is not Bazzite, but it does not work there either... I was thinking like; if it does not work on Bazzite, I give up... I will install it in a few minutes

Notably vcrun2013 2015 and 2019 And .net 4.7 I think NTLM is in .net So maybe install dotnet47 via Winetricks

I tried with vcrun2013 and 2019, it did not work... I might try dotnet now Does not work (with vcrun and dotnet), I will paste EGS logs in 3 mins working EGS logs: https://0x0.st/8Vdz.log

wow, they're using the same prefix folder too. try enabling esync and fsync in the GOG version and enable game mode too those are the notable differences. (also the anticheat runtimes, but I don't think those are actually being used here)

Now different error.... GOG Frostpunk works fine on laptop with AMD gpu... But not on this PC

This same error with gamemode enabled was present before I had EGS Frostpunk installed, on another OS (another SSD) (Bluefin latest) on same PC That's why I disabled it in the first place I will try GOG version without DLC to see if it does make a difference since EGS does not have any DLCs... but I doubt it will work

is directx the problem? okay, got it back up your saves (do not skip this) delete your prefix install the following in this order through winetricks: vcrun2013 vcrun2015 vcrun2019 (not sure this one is needed) dotnet472 then run the game

nah, I still get the same error Ok another info GOG version works out of the box when installed via Lutris But I want to make it work on Heroic (achievements)

Lutris does install two vcruns. Heroic also automatically installed them as shown in my screenshot above

I just tried with GOG offline installer and Heroic and it works... But it does not when I install directly from GOG in Heroic

Heroic installs them on first run as far as I can see.... but even when I do it manually it still does not work nope, I did not touch that section

Ok so I reinstalled GOG version again from Heroic, did touch anything except wine version so that it uses the same version as the sideloaded one from GOG...

well it does, use Proton, then UMU will kick in, that setup has highest chances of working

Why does GOG one have Launch Command in logs and sideloaded one does not? few diffs up the the "info: DXVK: Using 32 compiler threads" line ProtonFixes[7277] INFO: GOG store specified, using GOG database ProtonFixes[6588] INFO: No store specified, using UMU database Ok, looks like I found a solution will try to recreate it again ok, what the f? the game works out of the box... if I unplug the network... It does not work when internet connection is on but it does when there is no internet connection

I turned VPN on to see if there is something that blocks connection or whatever... but it does not open in that case either, so it's not being blocked by something. I could open an issue on GitHub, but since you don't have that problem, I don't know how could it be resolved

I don't have any issues with comet on my other GOG games... just with Frostpunk and it works fine on my AMD machine It would be nice if someone with Nvidia 40 series could try it

Cursed bug I can't see anything that would be of use in these logs If you have any other suggestion, write it here, I will probably look to it tomorrow... I will play sth else in meantime... don't want to do more debugging work at home after debugging at work

I noticed there was no achievement data in gameplay.db and replaced it with the one I had on my laptop (where Frostpunk works), but it did not have any effect... still crashes
