Breath of Fire IV controller rumble not working

So I have gotten the game running using both Heroic and Lutris but I'm not able to get the rumble working for gamepads in either. I have overriden both ddraw.dll and dinput.dll (tried dinput8.dll too, just in case) but there's no vibration on the gamepads. I've tried it with both a Dual Sense and an 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless gamepad. Anyone else had any luck with getting it to work or is it just broken on Linux for now? Running it with GE-Proton-latest on Heroic. I've also noticed F9 to exit only works if the gamepad is disconnected.

Actually, DualSense support seems to be all messed up. Buttons and axis are completely shuffled so the game thinks the analog stick is permanently stuck up. I love gog but god damn are their solutions and wrappers hostile against wine/linux

Have you tried setting PROTON_PREFER_SDL=1? Quoting the note at https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases/tag/GE-Proton9-24
it can fix input in a few games when not using steam input

I'll give it a go nope, no change tested with an original xbox series gamepad and same results, no rumble
