Group Shopping - Topic of the day 5/21/25
Are you a fan of shopping in a group? If so, why - a source of knowledge, a second set of eyes, credit card use, fun, something else? If not, why not? To what extent does it depend on the item?

Also as much as i love doing it, i feel like im always taking too long if i go with non- fashion friends because i can spend hours at a store
any activity with friends is fun :blushcatto:
Thrifting with friends is the best - last weekend I found a set of assortment of deadstock silk shirts in every color imaginable and we each got one for $10 apiece. Super fun and you never know what cool or absurd things you might find
I only like shopping for new clothing with my partner or else it can get uncomfortable finance-wise in my experience
depends on the friends i cannot be standing in uniqlo for 2 hours

I love shopping with people as long as my goal wasn't to buy anything
Yet you can stand in urban outfitters for 2 hours in front of the miffy station
otherwise I'll feel like a crazy person standing there contemplating whether or not I should buy a thing
Not against shopping with others, but can't remember the last time I actually did it. Always down to hangout with my friends though.
But Uniqlo is easy shopping for me bc I just tell my friends to try this one
My fav is when we wank into something like marine layer or Faherty and my friends are browsing and they’re like you gonna buy anything and I say no and they’re like but you like fashion

I love shopping with friends and showing each other our finds to consider. So many ooOOoo's. It helps break out of the comfort zone tbh
the idea of shopping with friends is infinitely better than the experience for me
Group shopping is great bc you ask each other if you should buy something and then realize you're just asking other enablers
This is why when people ask me here if it looks good I tell them it looks like shit to provide a second opinion
But seriously there have been many people that dissuaded me from buying things here

I’m afraid that means you’re the fashion friend your friends want to shop with
there’s also just not a great deal of clothes shops near me, me and a mate send eachother depop stuff often
Having my wife with me helps a lot, “Thats really similar to x thing you don’t wear very much” or “you look better in that color and you would wear it more than (insane colorway).”
My friends into clothes just get sent links on discord cause we all moved apart :cryingsunglasses:

I had a lot more fun shopping with friends before socially transitioning, tbh. none of my female friends wanna help me find menswear and none of my male friends like clothing at all
For me, I really appreciate a "second opinion," or a voice of reason regarding purchases. I think we've all experienced buying something that we thought worked in the store, but when we got home we couldn't figure out why we bought it.
A second set of eyes, particularly someone who I know has good taste, is most welcome in being assured about potential cops.
I love pressuring other people to make life-altering, irresponsible, and ill-advised purchases.
