Looking for recommendations of similar shoes. Maybe with a moc toe? In dark brown or soft black?

Hi, I got these cheap shoes from stitch fix to replace a pair of old shoes I loved but were worn out. Had them for a while now and would like something new. The original ones I loved were a chukka style shoe made by Merrell that they don't seem to make anymore. These didn't quite hit the mark the way I hoped. They aren't super comfortable and often don't look great with my fits.

what is your budget? what kinds of fits are you usually wearing? (pics would be ideal, either of your fits or similar style)

Yeah, not super dressy though. Sub a hundred preferably but open to anything really. I'll look for some fit pics now.

ok i will not be precious these are extremely ugly. loafers or paraboots would serve you much better if u arent gonna go full sneaker IMO. <$100 for footwear is a super tough ask tho, tbh, unless you're open to spending a lot of time searching secondhand.

Clae is a sneaker company that gets into this style a bit

Yeah I agree, that's kind of why I'm tired of them. Just throw some suggestions. I love the paraboot Michael but it's unfortunately more than in trying to spend rn.

See something like this I feel like the shoes are ruining it @zeometer (xxxvi) I don't really dig loafers personally

yeah the shoes are bad. espadrilles, boat shoes, fisherman sandals, etc. lots of leather shoes out there, my biggest piece of advice is avoid shoes that are tryin to split the difference between casual and formal. all the leather shoes i listed are already casual, so theres really no need to dress them down further

I've got a pair of boat shoes I like, I think they look better like here.

Yeah that's the part I have trouble with. I've got some good sneakers and stuff I was really digging the look of red wing work oxfords But they are a bit more expensive and I hate the white wedge sole on them I like the moc toe look Better than usual oxfords

feels like a moment where the clark's wallabee would make sense rancourt or llbean ranger mocs secondhand would also make sense

Looking again I'd be willing to spend like 150 or so Really not a firm budget I like the ranger mocs They seem so similar to my Sperry's though lol not sure if I need another pair Do they make ranger mocs with a chunkier sole? Is there like a moc toe version of a doc marten Oxford?

Timberland does a moc style with a lugged sole, they would be closer to that $150 price point but have that chunkiness https://www.timberland.com/en-us/p/men/footwear-10039/mens-timberland-authentics-3-eye-boat-shoe-TB050009648

pretty sure there's a doctor martens moc toe but imo why not just go for doc derbies if the goal is "not an oxford"?
