There is a plan for optimizing the choice of the replica to be the closest but now it's just selecting the replica of your closest region.

Either way, my theory seems to be right. Your main database is in Singapore, and the replica of the same region ended up in Japan. :facesad:
Replica placement is the core priority for improving before going GA, so please continue reporting these cases and we examine them.

Unfortunately, there isn't a tool (it's in the roadmap) to manually relocate replicas. The routing optimization to pick the closest is in progress though, so hopefully it will go out soon.

Hi cloudflare devs, I have a D1 database that I'm using for my production use-case. It is a very small db, but from day 1, I've been facing random >10s wall time on my workers on random db operations. I've optimized queries. That's probably an underlying error from Durable Objects that we shouldn't surface to users since you don't manage the underlying DOs and cannot run that anyway through D1.

What SQL did you try to run that gave you that error? I don't think I saw it before surfacing to users.

To summarize about transactions, since D1 is remote from your worker the traditional transaction approach of opening a transaction and interleaving JS code with SQL doesn't work (at least with the current implementation). The D1 batch query runs all the given queries within a transaction if you want multiple statements to be executed atomically.

I am not sure what's the question here, though.

Regarding the slow latencies, it can be anything. Next time they happen send us the database and account IDs so that we can investigate. When the underlying datacenter has network issues certain operations take longer, so that's just one possible cause. The network can also impact just the response on its way back, not necessarily the query processing. Especially if you return MBs So, without exact timeranges we can't say what is the cause.

I just rebooted your database so the export is killed. The error you are getting means there is a mismatch between the actual data you store and the schema defined in the table. So, the current D1 export logic that creates the SQL statements fails. It's one of the weirdness of the current export implementation and is planned to be reworked.

personally I would recommend using a second temporary database for the dump anyway since it locks your database while performing it in the current implementation
