yeah its the overlay that causes it to look all wrong
right
It is
Im looking to get the overlay look into Game Mode tho
As Game Mode is uneffected by display settings, vibrant deck and system settings
i can't fix the issue permanently, but i can at least pass this onto antheas if newer gamescope bin fixes it
Is there a temp solution?
im testing something
Thanks 🙂
Tried automounting btw, doesnt seem to work

@Zeglius Any idea? :huh:
I have never seen that before
It's enabled by default
So that's why it does nothing
weird
Used this guide to get going btw How to dual-boot Windows 11 and Bazzite (new version)

How to dual-boot Windows 11 and Bazzite (new version)
Bazzite has changed quite a bit in the 10 months since I first used it. This is an updated version of my previous Bazzite dual boot guide.
Note: If you have an AZERTY layout for your keyboard, when you get to the MOK screen, you'll need to enter universqlblue rather than universalblue. Same goes for any other keyboard layout where the letters a...
So if its enabled, the reason why HDD wont run in Game Mode is different then
you're not trying to mount an NTFS partition right?
that is not supported
Dont believe so. Its EFI
Or, supposed to be
Wait, do you have any NTFS partition in that storage drive?
The windows partition might be
And is not getting mounted automatically, right?
Shouldnt be as I used the guide linked, but they are on the same disk
Is there a way to check if they are?
If you open the file manager, it should show in at the left with a yellow badge
That means is unmounted
This is what it shows

The basic data partition is locked
Hoping it isnt, but assuming thats Windows..?
no thats good
that means its not mounting automatically
Ah, great
Yeah just wanted to check, thx
All good
So, HDD doesnt seem to be able to open in Game Mode despite autobooting being enabled
your filesystem needs to be labeled
if its not labeled at all, add a label in Disks
wait, what HDD?
in your GPD Win?
Is it an external?
Sorry, HHD
🤦♂️
:clueless: :clueless: :clueless: :clueless: :clueless: :clueless: :clueless: :clueless: :clueless: :clueless:

Lol
That's something entirely different
Was that, like, a really important letter?
Yes
you mean handheld daemon
the overlay
Sorry haha
Yes, thats right
so
systemctl status hhd
sorry its systemctl status hhd@$(whoami)

Posting it here in the hopes anything stands out. Im learning a lot today
should be working
try opening it from desktop mode
in the apps menu
Yep, that works. Overlay in Game Mode doesnt tho
Nm, overlay seems to work.
Trying to use the USRoverlay you mentioned earlier, but getting a readonly file system error
you need to do sudo mv
found the easiest way to replace gamescope binary
https://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/fedora/updates/testing/42/x86_64/Packages/g/gamescope-3.16.11-1.fc42.x86_64.html
grab this and extract the gamescope file and overwrite the one in /usr/bin
then return to game mode
don't do usroverlay with --hotfix cause that will make it permanent and might break everything unless you do
rpm-ostree reset
Yeees! Hero! Trying it now
this is a bit hacky and will not be supported, but im curious if this fixes the tint on overlays
if it doesn't work just reboot and the change will vanish in thin air
Which one do I grab?
Nm
I dont have permission to paste to that folder?
The big .rpm link
Not the src one
At the top
sudo cp
Well for me it just won't boot if I do that 😂 big F
Just skips to desktop mode
Oh man, want me to try
?
How do I sudo cp?
Just extract the gamescope bin from the rpm
Open terminal where gamescope bin is
And then sudo cp gamescope /usr/bin
Getting thid

Sorry for the hassle.. not very adept with Linux
you need to re-enable the usroverlay
sudo rpm-ostree usroverlay
then do the above command again, and then click return to gaming mode and pray
if it doesn't work it'll eventually go back to desktop mode automatically and you can reboot and then it's just not going to work without the fork and sadly you will have to deal with the tint for now 😦
let me know if it does work and if it does fix the tint, then at least i know its been fixed upstream 🙂This worked then..?

yes
Awesome, commencing praying!
now try to go back to gaming mode
Seems the whole thing shut down
yeah no its not gonna work
Rebooting
just reboot and you should be back 🙂
Yep. Back and the problem persists
Buuuut! We tried 🙂
Really appreciate all your help and patience! Thank you!
No problem 🙂 I honestly don't know what exactly causes it
Oh well, Im sure itll come to light some day
If you ever need someone with a Win Mini to test something out, let me know
Tried installing vanilla SteamOS on a related device to cross reference, turns out it just doesn't work on the HX370 devices
Its so weird, colors work perfectly on the 8840U (2025) WM2 or Mini w/ Bazzite, but on the HX370 WM2 and Mini, this issue happens and colors are washed out in the best case
Guess wont know 100% if the chipset generation is incompatible with linux until the Claw A8 or something comes out with the Z2E
For what its worth, this same thing seems to occur on CachyOS
Setting "HDR debug visualization" to "Waveform/Color Gamut" seems to fix the issue, but causes performance to take a massive hit
"Force Composite" also works at a lower-but-still-large bite out of the GPU
Interestingly, having the cursor out applies the same GPU usage penalty as Force Composite
on Forza Horizon 5, it goes from 75% gpu usage to 85% on a fixed clock speed whenever the cursor is up and affecting color
and drops back immediately after it goes away
