Bazzite loads to a black screen with a blinking cursor in a system with a RTX 5090 (SOLVED)

I installed the Bazzite NVIDIA desktop build (40.20240921.1) last year to do some performance testing on NVIDIA hardware. I recently upgraded to a RTX 5090 and wanted to do some testing on the latest Bazzite. However, when I attempted to update the system, I ran into a few issues:
1) Dependency issues for package openrzer-meta due to python 3.12 being required, and 3.10 available
Resolved by using rpm-ostree remove openrazer-meta razergenie
This allowed me to complete the ujust update process.
2) Stuck at a black screen with blinking cursor after loading the latest Bazzite
After rebooting, the boot menu showe new entries (Bazzite based on Fedora 42, prior build was based on Fedora 40). However, it attempts to load a grey image and then reverts to a black screen with a blinking cursor at the top left corner.
As I'm running an RTX 5090, at least driver 570.x is required. The Bazzite website shows 575.64-1 is included, which should work fine.
