I changed some settings and now I have my frames dropping every 1-2 seconds.

I changed some settings to optimise FPS and now for some reason, every 1-2 seconds my frames drop done to around 50-60 and then go back up again to 140 (which I have capped it to) but the same happens when the FPS is not capped either. Does anyone know why this is happening?

a bit before but now its every second i tried reverting the changes that i thought would have an impact i.e. changing the file properties but kept the windows settings as they were. for some reason, this problem only happens when i have 2560x1440p resolution. when i change it to 1280x960, it stops for the most part but i have been trying to transition from 4:3 to 16:9 aspect ratio since it is less enjoyable when the game is pixelated
