SlimeVR

I have the app for SlimeVR up and running just fine, but it will not put through data to steam, saying the SlimeVR server isn't connected to SteamVR, or the SlimeVR Feeder isn't connected. I've had a remarkably easier time installing steamvr and slimevr up until this point than over Windows, but I can't figure this one out. It says I need to install java, but the install commands don't include Bazzite's command format, and using sudo dnf install doesn't allow me to use it due to permission stuff(?)

Really new to Linux still, but with how easy it was to get VR running compared to Windows crashing steamvr and everything if I so much as have discord open at the same time as SlimeVR and VRchat, I'd much rather be able to run it all over here than there, but I just have no clue how I'm supposed to get past this point

Installing Java standalone might help, I haven't done it myself (yet...) but it's worth a shot I think https://www.java.com/en/download/help/linux_x64_install.html

Oh, it's worth noting though, I found I was able to install Java via Brew with brew install javabrew install java

Heck, sometime I'm available I'd love to hop in a VC and get this working, or at least get help with making Windows work better, fix all the stupid stuff like VRChat's constant game and driver crashing if I have Discord even open

I got the flathub SlimeVR installed and working, but it wasn't sending anything to SteamVR. I did try that SlimeVR driver it says to use but the didn't said it couldn't find the correct file in Steam's VR folder. Maybe I did something wrong there, and I'll have to retry in the morning, but following SlimeVR's steps left me clueless, hopefully going through LVRA's steps will work

looks like that file is now a binary and not a script file. remove the .sh suffix

So I'm trying to get help in the Slimevr server, and someone's saying it might be me needing to whitelist some folder, or that I need to install java (the appimage for SlimeVR gives an error as if it can't find java)

But if I use the Discover install, it works fine. If I use the Appimage, it fails to find java. If I use Brew, it installs, and then I use the same to install SlimeVR and it runs, but the same issue persists where it doesn't connect to steam

Honestly, if it's down to me not being able to install Java easily because of the dnf install command for Fedora being blocked, then I might just have to try a different distro. Any suggestions on other distros that offer similar feature sets as Bazzite? Like, HDR, adaptive sync, and similar performance

Try brew for java, otherwise you can use either nobara or cachyos

Yeah I'm thinking I'm just gonna have to switch to Cachy, hopefully that allows me to get this all figured out lol
