High CPU usage after generation?
I am seeing very high CPU usage, up to 100%, even when all of the chunks should have been generated.
If i stay still, then CPU usage drops to a reasonable amount, but moving quickly (flying) starts hammering it, even if I’ve been to those locations before.
It’s fine if this is expected behavior and loading the LODs from disk is just that intensive, I’m just a bit surprised that I can so easily outrun my 12900K.
Could anyone confirm if this is operating as expected?

You can lower the CPU Load preset if you want DH to use less cpu
Sure, at the cost of slower LOD loading it seems.
I was looking to confirm that it’s expected that LOD loading hammers the CPU, not just LOD generation.
When you're moving it often not only loads LODs, but also downsamples them to the correct quality it needs
Alright. And the only real ways to improve that would be dropping render distance or a better CPU, right?
I mean a 12900k is pretty fast
I could run it fine on a 7800x3d
And I mostly ran on the balanced cpu load preset
what lod distance are you on
Can you define fine? I’ve got it set to 256 distance, medium with the lod falloff increased by one notch, and I can outrun the high fidelity LODs with a few rockets it seems
fine as in I could play normally, also when teleporting to a waystone or so in my modpack
or flying around
