Packet too large: size 2684835 is over 8
I added the plugin to my purpur server on 1.21.6, which has a 10k radius already pregenerated, so i started the dhs LOD pregeneration too for 625 chunks and I left the server. After checking if it was finished through the console, I tried joining, but I'm getting this error. I removed the plugin, but the issue still stays. So I'm guessing the server just broke. I have no proof that its related, but it started happening exactly when the pregeneration was done and the server was already running fine for 2 weeks before. So if anyone knows a fix please 🙏.

This is the log from the server, when the LOD pregenerator was already running. I was logged in for 30 minutes, but after the LODs finished generating I couldn't connect.
NOTE: I had to remove some spam from the logs, because there was about 6M lines
If you're having issues without the plugin installed, then it has nothing to do with DH
Have a look at https://modrinth.com/mod/packet-fixer
Thanks, but do you know any plugin alternatives, because the server is on paper
a mod that disables safety measures 💀
I dont know of any alternatives at all. This was from Googling
I found other people with this issue on the papermc discord and nobody was able to fix it. And it seems to be random, so distant horizons probably isn't the main cause
:this:
DH only does an initial "hello, is DH installed on this server" when you connect. If this message isn't responded to, then it does nothing else
And this message is sent using vanilla plugin channel messages, not custom packets or anything like that
I guess it was just a coincidence that this happened exactly, when i added the plugin and pregenerated the LODs
If the error somehow was caused by DH then the bug would likely be in the vanilla implementation of plugin channels, or the way they were exposed via the APIs we use
thanks for the help, i guess i'll try downloading the world to see if its broken
Try with a vanilla client that has 0 mods first. If that doesn't work; double check your server config files and look for anything out of the ordinary
I fixed it by deleteting the scoreboard file in the world save
Nice
does distant horizons do anything with the scoreboard?
Nope
guess it was just a coincidence, thanks
Check that your server disk isn't full. That might cause file corruption and all kind of weird issues
there's 5% left which is about 10GB, but now that you mention it, I guess pregenerating LODs does thake up some space
10 GBs is plenty if you're done pregenerating 👍
no i had about 4GB when i was done pregenerating, but i trimmed the nether, when trying to fix it
That still wouldn't be enough to cause issues like I was thinking of.
You dont have any plugins that mess with scoreboards?
I might
