Anyone using Containers and can give insight into how stable they are in terms of instances not randomly shutting down for no reason? I have a use case where instances would need to stay up for around 4 hours, I know there's zero guarantee with DO/Container eviction but just curious how people are finding things before I put in the dev time to prove my concept

Just wondering if anyone has stumbled across this issue - Using wrangler and containers to setup a puppeteer image with devtools websocket url passed back to the requested user - Trying to get a local nodejs and php-chrome project to connect to that containers websocket but it is very hit and miss whether it connects, a lot of the time commands fail and seems the web socket drops out - Could this be a wrangler issue?

Works for any worker without container but with container we had that 403, I don't see any option to set permitimos there

I'm trying to run electric-sql locally with wrangler-dev and it errors out with something that seems to resemble not having a TTY, though admittedly I'm not very erlang/elixir knowledgable. The container runs just fine when I docker builddocker build and docker rundocker run it, but fails to start in

Egress on containers is so expensive. All the best use cases I can think off like processing video are just totally out of reach. We did the maths on moving our ffmpeg processing to containers. Mind boggling numbers. What a pity, cloudflare has always been very generous with egress.

Yes, with some caveats that encoding video using h264/h265 can be somewhat slow even on the highest tier available currently.

you can run ffmpeg there is one tutorial on youtube. I even got yt-dlp to run on it yesterday. Bit slow though. Cold start times are gnarley. Egress is expensive.

But if you just using it for your personal stuff it will be good. Try it out.

You get 500gb-1tb free depending on your region... Or something liek that according to the docs.

Thats still a decent included tier. I process a couple hundred 3+ hour videos a month and could get through all of my monthly usage within the provided tier

For Personal usage. For any app or service it's too expensive. Workers don't support the packages and also stuff like unsafe eval so not an option. Cool thing about containers is they support everything.

If it's for users try offload to their personal computers with something like a companion app. If you have to do it remotely checkout the price of vm's. You can get them for betwen 100x to 1000x cheaper than containers depending on your workloads.

Things like ffmpeg or yt-dlp can be run off a users computer. You can make users install a binary or application on their personal computers that can interface with your service in some way. So they can make use of your software but using their personal resources
