Battle.net instantly crashes on Lutris
Hello,
I installed Bazzite today in order to move away from Windows and hopefully get a bit more performance in certain games. I installed Battle.net through Lutris, but as soon as I open it, it crashes. I have tried running it through "wine-ge-8-26-x86_64", "wine-10.8-staging-tkg-ntsync-x86_64" and "wine-10.7-staging-tk-x86_64" but it's always the same. I have tried disabling Esync and Fsync too to no avail. Can someone help me out?
Thanks!

Try using Bottles from Bazaar
It's Lutris but better
Thanks for the tip! I will download it right away
This is a (really old) screenshot showing the installers tab

Installers | Bottles
Install new Windows programs in a few clicks in a guided and easy process.
Looks like that page no longer exists, nor does Bottles have the "Installers" section.

uh
I don't know why brave did that
It's /bottles/installers
Read the URL here and then the one brave spat out
Right, okay, that was weird but I got it now!
Use lutris and proton ge 10-10. Should work without issies
I actually tried it before on Lutris with "Proton-GE Latest", same thing.
Do you have Heroic Launcher installed too?
That's weird. Works for me doesn't help you of course 🙁
Lutris is such a hit or miss dood it's insane
Like it's never worked for me with anything
Yeah, I have it
Cool just checking, cause that's where "Proton-GE Latest" comes from
Did you install it using the lutris script?
I got it installed and open through Bottles, but this happened.

I got that in lutris and required me to use proton any 10
What script?
Did you try installing battle.net through Lutris.net or were you just trying to open the installer executable you downloaded off the internet
Right, I installed it through Lutris.
You can download a proton/proton-ge runner on Bottles here: https://docs.usebottles.com/components/runners
Runners | Bottles
Runners are the heart of Bottles. They allow the execution of Windows software on Linux systems.
This happened when I changed the runner to ge-proton10-10

That's normal
The Runner selection loads infinitely.
That's the like Windows little tray area
Were you still running Blizzard when you changed runners
No, I wasn't.
Try left clicking the Blizzard icon
Or right click it and see what happens
That looks like it's trying to use the wayland window. Not sure how to set the arguments in bottles. It either needs nothing or PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=0 from the look of it
I double clicked it, it opened a Battle.net sized black window. I'm guessing it has crashed yet again.

I quit Bottles and tried it again on ge-proton10-10, the login window displays as normal, but as soon as it logs me in, it only displays the completely black window.

And it stops responding after a while.
Go here and then try what biebel suggested by putting
PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=0
in launch optionsWill try that!
No effect
It just crashed my whole system for some reason.
damn!
When you created a bottle you created a gaming bottle right?
Yes
I finally got it open with a Staging-TKG build, no crashes yet!
Thank you for suggesting Bottles, looks like it's exactly what you said it'd be, Lutris but better
Got WoW downloading in the background now, thank you both
Glad it works now! Don't forget to mark as solved if u don't run into any issues after playing WoW
Glad you got it to work. Just make sure to use a separate prefix for every game and you should be fine. FYI, bottles is unsupported on Bazzite (as in the devs will not help you with it if something doesn't work)
Really? How come they're so hard pressed with Lutris?
Think the bottles dev is pushing for single prefix or something, not too sure. Got everything not steam/gog/epic working in it, so there shouldn't be a need to use any other program, so could also just be limiting the support scope.
That's fair
Oh, right, I heard about the prefix issues. How do I add separate prefixes? Lutris does that automatically, right?
Just make a new bottle
Right, that was my first instinct.
Battle.net and the ubisfot one are troublesome on linux.
Breaks every so often
Good to know. I could just go around Battle.net after WoW is installed by just starting it from Wow.exe, right?
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh maybe
only one way to find out
I'll give it a go once it's done
you just have to change the runner to fix this I use proton-ge latest personally and it works well
@Elvish
make sure you completely close out of battle.net and lutris (battle net espically tends to hide in the tray)
these are the settings I use lutris gets kinda wonky with the runners someitmes (might be worth rebooting too)
