Where to go for basic fashion advice?

I used to enjoy reading through the wiki on the male fashion advice subreddit for the basics of fashion, and simple recommendations on what to wear. Is there a go-to place for that sort of advice now that the community has moved to discord? The discord seems like it has a lot of in-depth, specialized information. That’s nice, but I don’t know much about fashion, and found the wiki on the Reddit much more approachable for a beginner, since it was more likely to just tell me exactly what to do. I know I can still look back at those posts, but as time goes on they grow more out-dated. Is there a good place to look for more up-to-date guides on what to wear?

Hi @JJ! For better answers, include: - Reference pictures - Budget in numbers - Specific measurements - Openness to buying secondhand and/or online - Location: country/continent is fine - Timing/urgency

Best is to just explore what you like and want to wear. Browse #inspiration #waywt #waywt-highlights Instagram, Pinterest, and just people around you. Gather your own inspiration and find what you want to do. Attempting to copy outfits you like is a great path

i would also encourage asking questions still, whether in #topic-of-the-day #questions-and-advice or in #waywt posts. i often struggled with the "put this stuff on" guides of the subreddit - i didn't have the money, i didn't look good in the things recommended and on some level i didn't like the items chosen - but i didn't really figure out how to move past it until a bunch of people screamed at me to seek out clothes i like

Agree with everyone here: the #fashion-guides and Substack are good. I would read them, but don’t read too much without exploring and trying stuff on and asking us about outfits like everyone else is saying. (Or else you’ll get all in your head about everything.) (Advice from someone who’s been there.)

makes sense. i like the simplicity of just doing what a guide says, but i guess at some point or another ill need to figure out what i actually like and what works for me.

it’s hard to cookie cutter everything. what looks good on u might look awful on me and vice versa ive learned the most by taking photos of myself, sharing them, and taking the feedback that others give me to heart

yeah everybody alr said it but another point is that guides are inherently written by and for a specific audience. there are plenty of settings where the old r/mfa guides would make you look out of place even at the height of their popularity. if your goal is to be unassuming and fit in at school/work/street/etc then just look at what ppl around u are wearing and do that.
