Tank tops that are substantial and less form fitting?
I know tank tops are designed for warm weather and to be worn under other clothes, but where can I find some that have a more substantial look and feel?
I've tried a lot of brands at this point and none of them have the kind of weight or cut that I'm after. Most are ribbed and slim-fitting so I end up with my nipples protruding like Barney Frank.
I'm not talking about the kind of loose tanks designed to wear to the beach or the gym, so no pockets, patterns, or other designs, just a basic white tank top that is heavy and has a boxier fit.
Why is that so hard to find?

Hi @interpassivity! For better answers, include:
- Reference pictures
- Budget in numbers
- Specific measurements
- Openness to buying secondhand and/or online
- Location: country/continent is fine
- Timing/urgency
budget is flexible
availability in stores to try on would be a bonus but online is fine so long as returns and shipping are reasonable
Are you planning on wearing it on its own?
Seems like you're not?
I would probably wear it under short sleeve shirts a lot of the time but would like to be able to wear it on its own too
I mean I think it'd be at odds with its purpose then
They're usually form fitting and lighter weight so that they don't show up under other garments
It'd be better to have different tanks for both honestly, the gym/standalone type and the undergarment type
I don't mean under light colored fitted dress shirts though, I mean like unbuttoned camp collar shirts
These are heavier weight though https://bronsonshop.com/search?q=tank&options%5Bprefix%5D=last

I know
They'll show outlines under
That's why they're usually form fitting and light weight
I've seen those but the look fairly slim no?
I mean if you want the undergarment style vs the gym/beach ones you stated, they're all going to fit like that
I guess what I want is kind of a white whale, something somewhere between those two in terms of fit but with the look of the former and a heavier weight
I'll be honest, no one makes those for a reason
what would be bad about that?
aside from the weight in summer
Cause it'd be terrible as an undergarment and there are a million standalone non-undergarment tank options
wearing most of those under a shirt looks off though
yea that's a cursed obkext
Yeah you're proving my point lol
i think wearing a loose tank under a shirt is 100% fine
people wear tshirts under camp shirt
cant imagine the tank being bulkier than this
I don't mean 300gsm, just not super sleek and thin
Then what's stopping you from just buying a normal tank...
i just googled white jersey tank top and found things that look like they would work
recommend some that come in neutral colors and I'll check them out, but a lot have large low arm openings or different neck shape that looks weird under shirts

in theory probably yes, but if that's anything like their tees, it would still be too thin and cheap looking
im thinking about buying this jawn
it's 10 dollars
it is cheap
this look cool
I don't mean I'm looking for designer tanks, just that it will look more substantial
thanks for the recs everybody, will dig through these and try a few
IDK we're back in standalone tank territory but here https://www.asos.com/us/asos-design/asos-design-super-heavyweight-crew-neck-tank-in-white-rib/prd/209008594?affid=26521&freelisting=yes
I like the cut and shorter length on this, that's pretty close to what I had in mind depending on how the material looks in person
Nice, gl
the neckline is a bit high though to the point where it would just look very similar to a crew neck under a shirt
honestly haven't had any issues with exposure with uniqlo airism tees; if you want the tactile feeling of weight hanging off you you may want something else
