Buying used pants with a mark
Hey everyone, I was looking at a listing for a pair of pants I like which have a really good price on them. Problem is, they have a small stain on them, I asked the seller if dry cleaning was able to remove the stain and they said they weren't able to. Do you think getting a used pair like that is worth it? Pants overall look good but I'm wondering if there's some way to remove the stain or paint over it (regular chino color). Thanks in advance!

Hi @selecttool! For better answers, include:
- Reference pictures
- Budget in numbers
- Specific measurements
- Openness to buying secondhand and/or online
- Location: country/continent is fine
- Timing/urgency
Stains on used pants totally fine, especially on something like chinos. How easy the stain is to remove depends on what it is. For me it’s not really worth the effort since you sort of forget about the stain after a while
If the chinos are more workwearish just consider it patina
they are a high waist chinos that seems slightly dressier which is why I'm thinking it over
Meh, still wouldn’t bother me
I’ve bought wool pleated dress trousers with stains and I stopped noticing and nobody else does either
thanks for the response, i might try to remove the stain but if dry cleaners can't clean it i doubt i can
unless there's some correction pen for pants or something
I wouldn’t mess around with it unless you are experienced with stains
Higher chance you make it worse
If you must, you can start with maybe testing out dish soap or oxiclean
Depends on the pants, the stain and the price - and how much I overall care
you haven't really provided much contextual info tbh
high waist chino in a light brown color, stain is dark gray in color, stain is on the thigh, it is small, probably noticeable enough when looking from afar but still looks like a spot stain and not a big stain. Dry cleaner couldn't remove it, type of stain is unkown and if it was dried or not.
the material of the pants and of the stain will dictate a lot
if it's small enough i'd just get them and not worry; baking soda paste may help if you really want to clean it (test it first on qn inconspicuous spot)
