Pants Repair Question
I have a pair of wool trousers that have a hole in the back. It’s about 1 cm x 0.5 cm. I’ve asked a few tailors in my area and it seems like nobody local is offering reweaving services.
Does anybody have any recommendations on how to approach repairing this, as I’d like to give it a try myself? I’ve seen darning mentioned before, but I’m not sure what type of thread I’d use or if that’s even the correct approach.

Hi @Strosam! For better answers, include:
- Reference pictures
- Budget in numbers
- Specific measurements
- Openness to buying secondhand and/or online
- Location: country/continent is fine
- Timing/urgency
Reweaving is incredibly expensive. The tailors would've recommended darning. You can do that visibly like sashiko or try to make it as inconspicuous as possible
Any advice on what kind of thread to use? My only experience with needlework is sewing on patches here and there with whatever random stuff I have on hand.
you could try to find a matching darning yarn if you want to make it as invisible as possible. poly thread works as all purpose and generally what i use to repair random things
wool is colorfast so poly should work fine
Thanks y’all
