Capsule wardrobe questions
Hey folks. In an effort to buy higher quality clothes I’ve been down the rabbit hole of this whole capsule wardrobe thing.
I have spent the last year or so dressing smarter and being choosy with my purchases. Got a couple of jackets from Private White Vc. Some underwear from asket, and I’m saving up for some shoes from Crocket and Jones. I’ve mostly been wearing long sleeve polo shirts that I had and chinos. Looking to replace older items
Dark navy is my favourite colour so I’ve been collecting in mostly that colour. Ive been taking it slow and collecting as my budget can afford
My questions is threefold for those that have tried minimalistic colours
1. Do you have a variety of different colour underwear/socks or do you stick to a uniform white/black etc for simplicity
2. How many colours do you introduce and in what sort of numbers
3. For a smarter style clothes what’s your go to brand for T-shirts, shirts and jumpers, roll necks sweaters and dressier warm layers that you recommend

- Reference pictures
- Budget in numbers
- Specific measurements
- Openness to buying secondhand and/or online
- Location: country/continent is fine
- Timing/urgency
Budget is open. I would prefer items to be in the mid range, no Loro piana but not Walmart either. Just quality items that will last a while that have a bit of craftsmanship without costing me a fortune

1. Underwear is whatever colour. Socks, sometimes I try to match the shoes, sometimes colourful socks to stand out. Uniqlo's colourful 50 socks are fun, I've been complimented on wearing red socks with white sneakers for example.
I’ve gone all navy for socks and underwear but I’m wondering if I should branch out a bit
Maybe get greys and browns in there too
for sure, those are versatile choices
1-for underwear it doesn't matter much as 99% of the time nobody is supposed to see it, you can go for whote,grey or skin tone like colors if yo wish to avoid others seeing the silhouette of your underwear under your clothes. socks tho I find having in nice colors that complement your pants and/or shoes can make for nice style points! personally I go for any scottish thread socks that has a color (and potentially) pattern that I like.
2-For this you need to ask yourself how big your capsule wardrobe is, as the smaller it is the less color you could in theory put in it
for 2 i think it's worth asking how many colors would you want to wear?
in theory you could wear just navy blue clothes and be done with it (many people do this with black, or gray, or white). if there's other colors you like then it's worth seeing what specifically you like (gray pants, a white shirt, etc)
