My OS is stuck before login screen and my two ostree seems broken

Hello,

  • I’m currently unable to boot into Bazzite. Here’s a description of the issue:
  • I was using Bazzite 42.
-I rebased to Bazzite:nvidia (version 43 installed).

  • I encountered a boot error, seemingly related to sddm or dbus services failing to start—not on the first boot, but on subsequent reboots.
  • Previously, I was able to work around this by booting via GRUB into my previous image, then rebooting.
To try and fix the issue, I:

  • Reverted to Bazzite 42 without Nvidia.
  • Rebased to Bazzite:nvidia again, but using the stable-42 version.
Now, both of my OSTree deployments appear broken. I can only boot into emergency mode, and rescue mode doesn’t work—it gets stuck after pressing Enter.

I have a couple of questions:

  1. Why do I only see two OSTree entries in the GRUB menu? Shouldn’t I have three:
bazzite:stable-42

bazzite-nvidia:stable-42

bazzite-nvidia:stable-43
I believe I could boot if I could select bazzite:stable-42.

  1. Is there anything I can do from emergency mode to recover my system?
I also noticed on GitHub that pressing Alt+Ctrl+F2 can open a terminal when boot fails. Unfortunately, my Ctrl key is broken, but if this is the solution, I’m planning to get a new keyboard tomorrow.

Thank you for your guidance!
