External Library Only - Server Stats doesn't match app sync status remote asset count

Scanned in ~39,000 photo/video assets from an external library. All jobs have completed and there's no active jobs running any longer. However, there's a large chunk of photos (seemingly random) across the entire library that are missing metadata - camera info, geolocation, etc. Is there any way to fix this?

Server info: Immich running on Proxmox via Docker LXC, installed via Docker Compose. External library located on NAS.

I also double checked the original photos/videos on the NAS - they do have their EXIF data intact with camera model + geolocation. When I try running the "Extract Metadata - Missing" job again, it will briefly say waiting on 1 asset, and then nothing else happens.

Can you restart the docker stack, then make sure the concurrency level is at he default (5) then run the missing job for metadata extraction again

I'm not sure if this is relevant, but current default concurrency is 5 for extract metadata; my system is only a 4 physical core processor. Should I change concurrency to 4 for all jobs, and re run extract metadata?

I believe 5 is fine in this case.

Does refreshing metadata for affected images/videos help?

Update for others who might read thru - decided to run the metadata extraction job for the entire Immich library again, and this seemed to work. Photos and videos have proper metadata/geolocation now.

However, on iOS phone app, the sync status page says I have ~39k remote assets. I only have external library photos/videos right now, not uploading anything from the phone. I've tried restarting docker stack, uninstalling re installing phone app, logging out and logging back in, but there's still a discrepancy.

I don't seem to see any other errors with my Immich instance right now (metadata working, no problems with storage space, no jobs running or failed, features seem to be working fine), so just curious what could be causing this number mismatch.

Yes - definitely have a chunk of live photos, but unsure if that would add up to a 3k discrepancy? I don't actually have a good way of guessing how many live photos exist within my external library

It seems the bug (that Alex mentioned above) caused only basic metadata being written to the database while "real" exif metadata failed extraction. In that case Immich still marks such assets as "extraction completed". Hence the "Extract metadata - missing" job skips them. The solution is "Extract metadata - all" for the entire library, as you pointed out.

Quick SQL to check live photo stats. (It does not account for trashed vs non-trashed and so on, just raw counters).

This worked perfectly. Showed that there were 2406 live photos in my library, which is almost exactly the difference between my server stats and the remote asset count in the app. Thanks!
