yet another tailoring advice thread sorry lol
Hoping that some of the suiting heads can help me out with this one - its actually three questions, all are stupid, and I feel a little embarrassed to even be asking considering how long I’ve been around and how often I wear a sport coat casually. Nevertheless, she balled. Thank you all in advance, lmk if there’s anything I missed!
Disclosures: I’m mostly interested in more earnest tailoring here - I’d like to do something louder with more fun proportions someday, but I’m leaving that aside for now. I’m also totally open to the idea that I’m just totally mis-sizing stuff and should toss it all out. I want clothes that feel good to wear, tag sizes are fake, etc.
Big question: i finally have an occasion to get this vintage BB tailored, and wanted some input on whether it fits me well enough to bother or whether it should be a catch and release. The big reason I’m asking is the shoulder measures smaller than I typically shoot for, and is less structured than most of what I own, so I’m kind of in unfamiliar territory. But I also want to make sure the chest isn’t doing anything weird. Please be nitpicky! I may or may not care about really small flaws for an ebay find, but it’s still instructive for me as I wrap my head around more formal suiting.
Second smaller, stupider question: I’ve also attached a photo of a blazer (fourth pic) that fits pretty well, but is a bit more than half an inch broader in the shoulder. Is having like an inch range of shoulder measurements that work depending on construction of the jacket normal, or is that just cope?
Third, smallest, stupidest question: When I wear said blazer with a sweater (final pic), it feels snug. This is obviously how layers work, but is that feeling of snugness an indication that I should try size up or is the dysmorphia machine just going brrr again
