upgraded to latest ubuntu 24.04... Firestone Online still won't run

I was advised that my mesa drivers weren't up to date enough, so I "upgraded"* to the latest 24.04 LTS Ubuntu. I completely uninstalled and reinstalled Firestone Online and tried running it again. Still no joy.

* "upgraded" is in quotes because so-called "upgrades" never are.
** I cannot figure out how to link to a previous post, but it was called "Error Loading Firestone Onnline Idle RPG" of that helps.
Fallout 3 (which I MUCH prefer) fails to run, too
