Struggles with OBS, unable to get it to capture a browser source

More or less what the title says. Trying to get twitch alerts working on OBS, and needing a browser source to do so. As it stands, I add the browser source to the source menu, I use the link to my alerts, and it just doesn't send my alerts to OBS.. I've tried capturing just regular browser sources, like a youtube video or well any browser source, and it gives me nothing but a blank space. The only suggestions I've found, turning off hardware acceleration, or adding gstream plugin on bazaar, haven't changed anything. I am working with an Nvdia GPU, not sure if that is relevant information.
