Audio sometimes disappears (hangs?)

[TL:DR - Suspected cause: something affecting the computer's ability to play audio hanging due to something related to Wine/Proton]
So I've played a few games, some using Wine/Proton and some natively on Linux, some installed via GOG and some manually installed. The ones that I've played via Wine/Proton seem to sometimes have audio issues -- the audio just stops playing, until I quit the game. And not just the game's audio, but any audio on my computer. While the game is still running without audio, I've tried playing music in Qmmp (an audio player) and found that it just hangs...and only actually starts after I quit the game.
The issue seems to happen with both the latest Proton-GE and the latest Wine-GE. I tested some native Linux games and have not had issues. (I can play music in Qmmp while the game is running, too.)
The issue is not consistently reproducible with all games, but most commonly seems to happen when I adjust volume (which I know normally makes a little sound effect on m computer), or sometimes when I Alt+Tab to another window (which might produce a sound effect if a window is minimized/maximized, but I'm not sure this necessarily happens).
But there's one specific game where I can consistently trigger this issue -- the visual novel eden* seems to always(?) launch without audio at all. So I can use this for testing. Furthermore, Final Fantasy VII (the newly-released version on GOG, which I think is a recent update by Squenix) has a launcher that has audio, which also seems to frequently cause this issue (in-game and also sometimes with the launcher, especially after quitting the game back to the launcher).
In the logs, I think I see some curious lines in the logs but I am not sure how to properly interpret them. Log file is in my next message below.
