In short, send your domain to @sven and he should sort you out

Note that if you have more than one destination address linked to the same custom address, Email Routing will only process the most recent rule. This means only the most recent pair of custom address and destination address (rule) will receive your forwarded emails. To avoid this, do not link more than one destination address to the same custom address.

Is sending emails on the roadmap? I know for manually sending we can configure the alias at our origin, but for a contact form on a JAMstack site like what pages provides, it would be cool if we could at first send emails to ourselves https://www.smtpjs.com is a cool library, but we still have to add an additional SMTP server like MailGun because our user I’m inboxes are secured in different ways preventing them from being used. (and at much later times system notifications to users of an app built that way too could be useful).

No, AFAIK it's not. There are many challenges to send emails (such as cost, IP reputation, spam filtering, etc) so I don't believe CF is planning it.

With reading https://developers.cloudflare.com/email-routing/postmaster#sender-rewriting, I wouldn't of thought that the forwarding should cause a failure

It has not been added. And I wouldn't hang my hat on it happening any time soon. Outbound mail delivery brings in a ton of other concerns that may not fit a business model for free services.
