ah okay. Follow up question, cant I simply use the existing postgress instance in docker to be shared with new server? and have new Immich DB-URL set to this old one?

Is there a way to change the location of the database backups?

You need to start by selecting a folder to start the backup process, basically in your app you have to tell Immich which folder to backup. See the guide https://immich.app/docs/install/post-install#step-6---upload-your-library
