How to add user to group (dialout)

I'm having an issue add my user to the dialout group that I need to have permission on usb serial port for arduino developpment. I tried this

sudo usermod -a -G dialout <username>

sudo usermod -a -G dialout <username>

and it doesn't work.

intel iso???

hey, im using a laptop (not framework, other laptop) with an nvidia card and most important, an INTEL cpu. the iso it gives me is named "amd64", so im assuming it wont work with an intel cpu. where can i get an intel iso, if thats even... supported......

Steam suddenly refuses to launch Proton games and no logs are generated

Hey. I've run out of google-foo. Basically, any game I try to launch on Steam using Proton just straight up refuses to launch. 1) The drives the games are installed on are BTRFS 2) I can confirm that last week I could successfully launch games 3) Adding PROTON_LOG=1 %command% to the launch options does not generate any log file anywhere (used FSearch to check everywhere)...

Solution:

Fully exit steam (it should not be in system tray) then run cd ~/.local/share followed by mv Steam Steam.bak. Steam may not start with capital S, idr how it was. try as "steam" if "Steam" doesn't work...

Desktop/Ui crashing due to steam games or steam itself?

Updating Bazzite fails with error Packages not found: grub-customizer

Hello folks, kinda new to tinkering with Bazzite which I have installed on a MiniPC. It is a dualboot setup with Windows 10 on the same SSD where each OS is on a different partition. I did not actually confiugure Grub as I just choose to boot them myself throug UEFI. I am currently on Bazzite 41 (stable F41.20250206, kernel 6.12.12-203.fc.x86_64). Applying updates through the game mode seems to be stuck in an endless loop as it does not get installed after the prompted reboot and still is hinting at a the same update after the restart. ...

Solution:

try removing all layered packages with rpm-ostree reset then reboot and try updating again. it's failing the update due to some dependency issue involing your layered package

Gaming Mode limiting to 20fps - Frame limiter is off

So this is the second time I've had this type of issue on my machine. In gaming mode, most games are being limited to 20fps during gameplay, but menus are available to run at 144fps max. Better performance with zink?

A long time ago I asked if someone knew how to fix the frametime spikes in sage engine games like command and conquer 3 Tiberium wars and battle for middle earth 2. The only fix was to use desktop mode. Then today I came across a fix for another game: Digimon stories Cybersleuth. It used to work well back in the day but since Steamos 3.6 (and on bazzite for a long time now) the game just wouldn’t go past 40fps or so. Then there was deep rock galactic survivors. Make grub show up to rollback

Yesterday I did a system update and since then Bazzite only boots to the login screen. But after login KDE has a crash loop. I checked the documentation on how to roll back: https://docs.bazzite.gg/Installing_and_Managing_Software/Updates_Rollbacks_and_Rebasing/rolling_back_system_updates/ This sends me to the grub menu or the console, but I cannot reach both. How can I make grub appear without access to the console?...

Actually, google did not help. Reddit did not hep. Le Chat did. Pressing ESC while booting did help.

Ujust install-coolercontrol not working

I have tried to install coolercontrol via the ujust command in the title, and while it says it has successfully done so, I cannot find any way to launch the application, and coolercontrold is not showing up in systemctl. If I run rpm-ostree status, both coolercontrol and liquidctl show up as layered packages. There was an earlier topic on this, but the solution provided has not worked for me, which was to uninstall and reinstalling....

Solution:

This has now been resolved; my system updated today, and cooler control now launches properly. I did try manually updating, so it must be something new on the stable branch that fixed this for me.

Bazzite's installer won't allow to set mounting points

Hi! I.m struggling with this installation in an old PC Gamer with a RAID of two SSD. I have readed a bit and have copied the setup of disk and partitions from another installation attempt to this one: - Small FAT32 partition, for bios boot, I think; - 1 GiB ext4 partition for /boot, Bazzite boot; - 444 GiB BTRFS for root of Bazzite that is a RAID of /dev/sda3 and /dev/sdb3 did by mdadm, mounted and formatted by Bazzite's command line. I also rebooted after and the result is the same....

HHD missing on non-deck version Flow z13

Earlier I installed the deck version of bazzite on my flow z13, and when I press the asus button it opens hhd where I can change battery cap, fan speeds, etc. Although I installed the non deck version, and I can't install hhd using ujust, or enable it via systemctl. Is there a way to get it working?

rEFInd on Bazzite HTPC

Greetings all! I am trying to get rEFInd to to work with my dual windows + Bazzite HTPC. Bazzite and windows are each installed on different nvme drives. I made sure only one drive was connected when installing each OS. I can boot in each OS but only choosing the right drive in the bios settings. Grub does not see Windows. I did install rEFInd through Bazzite following different methods but it did not seem to work. I have then installed rEFInd on the windows EFI partition and it now works...
