Steam unable to launch any games

tl;dr, steam won't launch anything. Play button spins a bit, no window appears, goes back to being a play button nearly instantly. I'm not familiar enough to know where to start troubleshooting, so please bear with me. Ran Steam via the terminal, I tend to see this spew every time, but nothing is standing out to me as particularly damning. ``` chdir "/var/mnt/games/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Hardspace Shipbreaker" Game Recording - would start recording game 1161580, but recording for this game is disabled...

Solution:

Wild shit. Got it working. Unfortunately, nuking my external steam library did not work. Looking in my ~/.steam folder, I found a weird little folder with unprintable unicode characters (\034\310\f). Nuked that + all caches + configs, ran ujust fix-reset-steam, reinstalled a small game locally... Boom. Worked.

protontricks inconsistent behavior

When running protontricks -l, I see the list of games correctly. When I run protontricks <appid> regedit, it says "Could not find configured Proton installation!". I'm lost on how to debug at this point.

Endgame brand mouse middle click not registering through layer proton correctly

I have an endgame brand gaming mouse, I configured it on windows because it doesn't have a linux alternative and I haven't been able to find a linux alternative that can read the mouse. And while the middle mouse button seems to work on the desktop just fine, I am able to open new tabs with it, scroll pages with the click etc. Any game that goes through the proton layer seems to be unable to register it. If I plug an older logitech mouse in that I have the middle mouse click works just fine through proton so the issue is seemingly with the endgame mouse middle mouse not being recognized correctly somehow either from the OS or from proton. Anyone know of a potential work around? I really don't want to have to use a razer or logitech mouse just because they have support if I can help it. But so far i've been unable to find a way to get it to work....

Bazzite - Laptop dying while in sleep mode

Hi all, I've been having an issue with Bazzite 43 on my laptop (HP Victus 15-fb0504na) since it released. When I put my laptop to sleep and come back to it a couple of hours later, the battery is completely flat. This does not happen on Bazzite 42 and I have that pinned so at least I have a usable system. I have updated to the latest testing version and the issue is still happening there too. I don't see any other questions on there that list the same issue so I'm not sure where to go from here. More than happy to help with some testing to figure out what's going on....

Trying to install fonts, but they don't appear in LibreOffice

I don't know what's the issue, but some fonts I install appear in LibreOffice, and others don't, despite being placed in the same directory (./local/share/fonts). Why is that, how can I resolve it ?...

Issue Launching Arc Raiders in Game Mode

Recently switched to bazzite with game mode. Got Arc raiders. Arc launches and runs in desktop mode completely fine but fails to launch in game mode. It launches and starts then its just a black screen forever.

Grub/bootloader gone?

Hi there, I have two SSDs in my laptop, one with Windows 10 and a second empty one. I've installed Bazzite on the latter. So far so good, I got it booted and updated. Afterwars I checked on grub if the Windows partition is still there and if I can boot there, it works. But here my problems start: after a reboot out of Windows the boot menu is gone. Is there a way to restore that since I need to boot into both systems (for now)?...

Hanging at boot on multiple fresh installs with multiple images

I genuinely do not know what's causing this. I've downloaded COUNTLESS images, even base Fedora Atomic. Every single Fedora Atomic based system, including Bazzite does this. I have been STRUGGLING with this for A WEEK AND A HALF. Words cannot describe how frustrated I am. I left it on that screen for 30 minutes and the only thing that appeared is the rcu_tasks stall warning.

bazzite installation failure, i already tried basically everything, down to setting mount points to /boot/efi, where i got a different error, then trying different iso's, wiping my drive, using both balanaetcher and rufus, and i already tried to brute force it and praying that works just for it to fail again, please tell me yall have a different solution :3 after this it throws me in the not good grub...

Lost tabs and windows?

Im very new to linux and noticed that my taskbar doesnt show active windows and they dont show up when i press alt tab either. The only way i can see whats open if i minimize a window is if i open system monitor. Anything i can try resetting that might fix it? Using bazzite nividia

Passing arguments to a flatpack application without being "stuck" on terminal

I'm trying to run teams-for-windows with multiple profiles as I need it to have access to multiple tenants. The docs for teams-for-windows state that you can do so with arguments, which I got running, but I ran into another problem: Now my terminal displays every action and error teams does and when I close it teams just hangs and has to be terminated. Yes, I know that this is expected behaviour, I want to know how I can circumvent this whole thing. My "fix" for that was to add &>/dev/null, but that just keeps my terminal free of clutter, but doesn't let me do anything else in it, as it still runs the application....

i have a pantum p3010d printer and i cant get it to work i installed the linux driver from the official website and it doesnt work, i manually extracted the PPD file and installed it in the printer detail My guess is that due to the system file being immuable the installer couldnt complete the installtion please help 🙁...
