Is pre-generating chunks actually nessecary?

We have a 30k x 30k worldborder and at roughly 50-60cps it's saying it's going to take 150+ hours. Is this something that is actually nessecary to prevent lag?

Looking for a companion

I am working on a project with the goal to make a MMORPG server. I already have lots of cool custom made spells, paid plugins and wand models (I am a decent modelmaker myself) and a server. Money is not the problem, I just really lack motivation because I’m all on my own right now so I am looking for any skilled minecrafter that wants to work on this server with me (if the work is 50/50 I wouldn’t mind sharing ownership). PvP arena keep-inventory

so I'm making a PvP arena where I could toggle keep-inventory, but I want that gamerule in arena to override luckperms role VIP which has keep inventory. I already set keep-inventory flag for region with worldguard Extra Flags. I'm somewhat new to this and don't really know how to solve that....

EssentialsX config not updating?

I'm trying to enable unsafe enchantments, but even while the server is offline when I update the yml, it doesn't enable in-game once I put the server back online

Server resourcepack errors

I use Itemsadder to manage my server resourcepack and everything was fine, until I joined the server this morning. The resourcepack is no longer able to load and all errors are about "[Server] [ERROR] [ItemsAdder] Invalid character in folders/name of file:" Does someone know how it is possible that a server resourcepack just brakes and how to fix this? https://pastebin.com/zJ6xtMmv...

1.20.1 Forge Local hosted Server java.exe Suspended

Win 11 latest forge version server process keeps getting suspended, I cant find what is causing it. It stalls out and becoming unresponsive. I went into task manager and notice the process was listed as suspended instead of non-responsive. After researching Java a bit, I think it might be a deadlock. In task manager I'm able to "analyze wait chain" but it just tells me threads. Is there a way I can debug this? I know deadlocks kinda mean you're SOL because it could be anything but I'm not even s...

Purpur 1.20.1 Server having massive lag spikes during world save

I am a admin in a minecraft server that, around earlier last month, started having lag spikes whenever the world saved. We previously used paper, so we decided to try and switch to purpur and see if that + removing any citizens npc's that we placed down around that time would work, however sadly it did not. We have tried many things, such as different configs, removing datapacks, and nothing we try works. So maybe one of yall might have a idea on what's causing it? 267 Villagers stuck at 0, -63, 0

Can someone please help me figure out how to kill these villagers? There are below the bedrock on the server I host and I can't seem to kill them with weapons. Lava stops where the bedrock ends. These villagers are just in the void stacked on one another and WILL NOT DIE. I am not sure of a command or plugin that will give me access to the void to murder these guys. Pic for proof

What are the pros and cons of self-hosting?

Hi all, my friend recently sent me a DM saying that he had a 12GB i7 computer that he wasn't using, and that I could buy it off of him for a little bit of money. I've been using Pebblehost to host a private server that I'm thinking of taking public this fall, and the servers starting to get more and more expensive to pay for as it needs more resources, so this really got me thinking about self-hosting, whether I buy that computer off of my friend or buy another one. It would make much more sense. What are the pros and cons of self-hosting? What would I have to worry about that my server host already covers, and what are some tips that anybody could give me? I don't know much about port forwarding or really anything network related, and would I have to worry about DDOS attacks on my home router if I self-hosted? I just want to know if self-hosting would be a good solution for me or not. Thanks!...

weapon / tool repair shop - command blocks

I have set up an item repair shop on my semi-vanilla server with 2 command blocks, one that takes 10xp levels, and the pther that repairs the item dropped on the ground, is there a way to do this same process, but target the tool in the offhand? Zipped Resourcepack Issue

So basically when I have my resourcepack as unzipped and as a folder, it works perfectly fine. When I zip it (correctly with only the files not the parent folder) it loads in the game and then when you try to load it it says "resource reload failed".
