How well does Dash work with Game Design?

Dash is primarily focused on environment creation, and most individual users use it for creating environments for cinematic/showcase purposes. But you can of course also use our physics placement system or any other of our many tools to place assets or adjust game environments with ease. We encourage you to give it a try with Game Design and see how you like it! Feedback is always welcome! Creating large-scale worlds with Dash is not something we feel the software is ready for quite yet, but we’re actively expanding the scope of environments possible, and in time, that will include really large-scale scenes....

How to adjust tool settings and material settings

So in the video above you can see me doing some different steps: (The UI has changed a bit since this video was created but the steps remain the same) 1. Selecting the landscape. ...

Is the results/scenes shareable without having Dash installed?

You only need Dash installed for those people who want access to the tools and the ability to adjust the parameters of our tools and features. If you share the scene, the recipient will view everything/the result/scene perfectly as we are not using any custom actors, just native UE actors. And they can then of course continue editing the scene normally in UE πŸ™‚ To be clear, if they try to move a surface that has scatter or any other instances from us on it the scatter/instance will not move accordingly without also selecting the scatter....

Can I scatter Custom Content?

Yes you can! Just search for and open Surface Scatter and then add your surface and the object you want to scatter. The video shows you how easy it is πŸ™‚

Maya Support?

So this goes for both Maya and Unreal: GraphN the node editor is paused and removed completely from the latest update (Dash). GraphN Library has been replaced with Dash. And regarding Maya, unfortunately, Dash 1.0 has limited features in Maya, you will get most of the tools you had before in GraphN Library, in Maya 2022-2024, but most of all the new stuff that has been introduced for UE since the revamp to Dash will not exist in Maya. So we are not marketing it as available for Maya right now, but some parts are, so feel free to try it out πŸ™‚...

Good to know Search Terms in Dash

1. Show tools: It will show you a list of your Active tools in the scene and from there you can open them and adjust the deep settings. 2. Show tags: It will open a window where you can see your tags and create new ones that you can use in tools and in the prompt bar. 3. Cycle Lightning / Cycle Grading: Will change the light/grading, use CTRL G to redo the action and thus cycle through the options. (For grading, you need to be inside a Cine Camera)...

GraphN vs Dash

Dash is our rebranding related to our latest update. Instead of having a library of tools, Dash is now a complete co-pilot with a prompt bar. Within this prompt bar you can perform actions such as adjusting the lighting, creating landscapes, and scattering foliage with just a few words. But you will also be able to search among all our tools and supercharge your asset workflow by using our Content Library to access, place and scatter all your Megascans assets. Our goal is to simplify and make your Unreal Engine workflows much faster. So to clarify, Dash is like a major update to GraphN Library (the ready-to-use tools), GraphN the node editor is paused and removed from Dash as we are focusing on getting ready-to-use tools and actions now. So by downloading it, the GraphN Library icon and software will be replaced by Dash in UE, and it will not affect any old projects where you have used GraphN Library....

How does seats work for the enterprise plan?

1. You only need seats for those artists that want access to the tools and the ability to adjust parameters 2. You do not need licenses for Build Machines since we are not using any custom node/actor 3. We are open to discussing custom enterprise offerings, send us a dm or an email at info@polygonflow.io...

Node Software?

Before when the software was called GraphN Library, we also had a node software called GraphN, here you could create your own tools. This software is currently discontinued, maybe it will come back at some point but not for the foreseeable future. OLD text: GraphN Library is our library of ready-to-use tools directly in UE/Maya! ...
