Falbeit its an apprenticeship where they dont expect you to know what a programming language is
KIt 100% depends. Got my current job basically completely off GitHub contributions... But it's probably more an extreme case. I'd also say that projects like silk are very niche & even companies that care for open source won't care too much about them beyond "this person can code" because any specific aren't transferable to what you'd be working on with them.
