I have a question about force feedback in general.
I thought the introduction of XINPUT (in 2005) (instead of directinput) killed FFB.
Because according to the documentation:(https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/xinput/ns-xinput-xinput_capabilities) : "Note that these force-feedback features beyond rumble are not currently supported through XINPUT on Windows."
Only rumble is not really force feedback (I think anyway).
So I thought no more FFB joysticks would be made, because (as I understood) games that want to offer force feedback couldn't use Xinput but had to use the old directinput. (unless they just wanted to to rumble, then you can use xinput)
But am I wrong about this?

Describes the capabilities of a connected controller. The XInputGetCapabilities function returns XINPUT_CAPABILITIES.

BYes found a lot thanks! To sum it up; if you want real FFB the game needs to implement directinput or an abstraction of directinput like libSDL or a plugin like xpforce (which then handles directinput)
PIf only everyone could be bothered to implement the full potential from a FFB stick, there sadly seems a general ignorance to the purpose of the FFB beyond being a gimicky stick shaker, as evidenced in a couple of developer forums on DCS in previous conversations I have had about implementation, some flat out can't be bothered at all.

R@walmis would it be possible to start aoa effects at a certain aoa, then stop at a higher aoa with no effect beyond that? So say only effective between 17-25 degrees?

RAnyone able to get ground effect working for the F/A-18? I've enable constant force but still not feeling anything during ground roll..
AIs there a standard button mapping for the Hotas Warthog? In the default 'generic' settings the button mapping is not the same as the Warthog. So I would have to adjust the mapping or rewrite all my patterns in DCS for the stick.
WIt should be the same, the bit layout is not changed what is read from the grip.
WUnless TM base changes the layout
AExample on the Warthog Base Trigger 2nd detent is button A. On the Rhino Board another button is recognized. So I can't use a copy of the stick configuration because the assignment of the buttons doesn't fit. I am currently on the road and can only provide you with exact details this evening.

WF-14 is best I believe for DCS , for MSFS XPforce is quite decent, pretty cool to fly in windy turbulent conditions
AI've been digging into xpforce recently, I'm wondering if there are specific planes that work well with it

TSecond, a question. I am very unhappy with my Thrustmaster F-18 grip and thinking about getting one from WinWing. Any update on WW grip support?
TPS- My reason for using the Rhino for the F-18 is the ability to adjust the total travel when using an extension and adjust "spring tension". I bought the Rhino for WWII birds and helicopters, but I love it so much I pretty much intend to use it for all aircraft just with proper settings for each to reflect the real aircraft as closely as possible.
WWCurrently tested with WW F-16EX, hoping it will work with F-18 grip too, but it's firmware can be updated for F-18 grip support if needed.
JFor those of us that are already in line we don't have to order again for new parts right, just square it all up once time to pay?
