occasional layer shift / Belt shifting

As you can see, can happen in the mide of the print. Very annoying. Pulleys are tigthened firmly. Where else can I check ?

Vcore 500 with bondtex extruder All seetings under performance mode. Perhaps I should reduce non printing move speeds ? What typical checks should I do ? Perhaps its a travel speed issue ? I reduced from 500 to 400 ms

What accel is your slicer set to?

default 4400 sorry 6000 grub screws are well tightened I believe

I'm not sure. Maybe you'll need to go very low for a 500? I see that many of those accels are set to 120%, which is considerable in this case. I'd double check that the grub screws are in correctly. Does the issue occur when you run super slow?

Hello reduced max velocity but again a belt shift. This happens once or twice but its enough to ruin my print....

I am not sure which acceleration setting is the culprit. I guess i can try to print to opposite shapes and see why setting takes away the retractation Is there a way to distinguish acceleration from max printing speed issues ? I will redo the prints with loyer accelerations to see if the problem persists I reprinted at slower speed and got a layer shift at the exact place

What can explain a layer shift occuring at the same exact layer ?

That it is doing a particular move that is causing the shift. Most likely a diagonal travel move

I an printing now with z lift at 0.5mm, it may have sorted this issue on that layer (i have two instances of shifting on that print) Z hop is very annoying thoughn creates a lot of mess If it is indeed a diagonal move, then I guess its not entirely a mechanical issue, or maybe the mechanics cant follow the diagonal love Move In which case I guess i can slow down a lot the print before and after the guilty layer (?)

What performance settings do you have selected? Need to make sure the motor run current is high enough

tmc2209-perfomance.cfg Ok i think i know whre the issue comes from Petg is oozing ending up by creating a blob That blob holds the nozzle enough to cause a layer shift Just happenend now Run_current is set at 1.6 Can i increase it to cleae out this kind of issue ? I am surprised though that a fresh blob can cause layer shift

So found the culprit. Blobs are for some reason derailing the nozzle I didnt that possible given the strenght of a stepper Changed the nozzle hopefully a new tightened nozzle will have less oozing

That's a pain. I'd make sure to confirm esteps and pressure advance so that you can rule that out Never heard of that issue Usually when the nozzle crashes it will dislodge the print

Thank you for you kind support on that issue Sorted out the issue, there was in fact 3 problems Nozzle base was leaking, creating blobs. Replaced and tigthened a new nozzle. No more blobs Pressure advance was too high, ultimately creating blobs. Reduced PA Aaaand a grub screw was indeed loose...screwed it back firmly on the flat surface of the stepper rod Print is almost done and no more belt shifting Thanks again and have a good day ahead

I find a little blue loctite helps keep them in place

Thanks will try that One last question. When experiencing a layer shift, is there a way to rectify the situation during the print ? I mean pause the print and adjuste the printhead position back to where it is meant to be ?
blacksmithforlife
no, since you have no way to determine the correct position

Ok thanks
