Nice! I'd love to know what you end up with the bearings situation. Currently I am using mounted bearings from Bilda. They are little bulky, but I am not sure how online fabricators like sendcutsend deal with pressfit applications, so for now I am just using off the shelf parts. What's the thickness of the belt you are using? I am going with 15mm HTD, but I am wondering if I can get by 10mm. I probably will release the files if everything works out.

For pressfits the trick is not to rely on fab houses like scs to do them.. order parts with slightly undersize holes and use a drill press+reamers to bring them up. They can do finish work like that but it adds cost just like having them tap/chamfer etc. They may need to be over or udersize to work since bearings will vary a tiny bit by batch (plus ones like Igus has need undersize holes to preload them into tolerance) so best to do that part yourself and design accordingly. Drill press is useful if willing to buy the range of reamers you need. Pressing bearings in prints is easier cause you can adjust the printed holes till they work. I'll be posting my bearing findings for sure.

I'm using 5mm pitch/9mm width Powergate GT3 belts, starting with Gates branded ones to set the benchmark, will see if off brand ones compare. Using closed loop belt for now, might switch to open loop since the big pulley doesn't make a full rotation it can be fixed somewhere along the dia. You should be fine with 10mm HTD, the forces involved in these bases are low by their normal standards.

I hate to ask but I have to...

Has anyone here done a head to head comparison between their Rhino and the Virpil CM3?

I know it's apples and oranges, but I am mostly curious from a precision perspective.

Is the rhino as precise?

I mainly fly the harrier with a squadron. Will my a/a refueling abilities be hampered by the rhino?

I currently run the cm3 center mounted with a 200mm extension...

With the app I am loving it. I had no idea before when using the winwing base when I was turning too much and bleeding energy. Now I can tell and also how the spring tension changes with the speed is also great. I know when I need to slow down when I am conducting ground attacks for example.

Out of the box is great
The trim at high speed is so pronounced it makes it fun to go fast
Try the auto level autopilot
And the in override stick limiter

@walmis - I am about to order the 2x57BLF03+usb kit. I noticed that a WinWing adapter is offered. Is that a mechanical adapter just like the VKB one? As in, I would have to use the board from WW's gimbal right?

I don't understant much of this but I believe are Angle of attack, runway texture, weapons release, cannon, stall, weapons being installed during rearming and others I can't remember now. I don't remember landing gear transitions though. But they are incredible.

Really? Like analog axis on the grip is working too? Including the extra side module that adds extra hats and mini stick? Is the adapter a PCB or just aluminum pipe with threads that connect the WW grip to the Rhino base?

I haven't tested it myself, but from what I recall Walmis managed to read signals from the grip and make it work directly

Walmis has made a telemetry app that reads the aircraft telemetry from DCS & sends that to the Rhino for FFB effects on every aircraft. The Rhino is extremely precise, it has a huge amount of throw that you can restrict with software endstops per aircraft profile to your desire, a few of us are looking into or have already made physical endstops. Do you fly with an extension? depending on the Rhino's mounted height you can get away without an extension due to the huge throw & the fact the Rhino basically has a small extension built in. Like swapping from any stick/base you'll likely have a bit of an adjustment period to get used to the new stick/base, I was using the VKB Gunfighter III base prior to upgrading to the Rhino & I can adjust the software settings on the Rhino to make it feel just like the Gunfighter III base in relation to spring force, dampener & throw length. The Rhino can use any grip from TM, Virpil, WW or VKB, WW & VKB require the adapters Walmis makes VKB's being a passthrough design. I can't recommend the VPforce Rhino enough it really is an awesome bit of kit.

I had the CM3 prior to getting the rhino -- and one thing I can say -- it's basically no comparison. The rhino is miles better in every way: has a longer throw, in cases where the game doesn't support force feedback, you can tune the friction and damping in a way that feels infinitely better than the CM3s dry clutch, it feels super smooth, If i'm really trying to find nit picks with the rhino -- it's maybe that sometimes the leather pinches at the edges, and i kinda wish it maybe had a circular end stop instead of square? (could probably 3d print or make a replacement though). But with most FFB implementations i've found i rarely hit the end stops when flying (it's something the force feedback helps to train you not to do). TL;DR: assuming this thing lasts forever (and it's built like a tank), i'll never go back (if walmis releases a Rhino v2 i'll be first in line for it xD)
