Hey guys, I've managed to improvise a moving trim implementation for the Harrier with telemetry!
Apparently you can completely override DCS input subsystem and send back X/Y axis commands directly using

LoSetCommand

LoSetCommand

functions.
So in essence TelemFFB becomes two way telemetry.
So the caveats are: DCS input system overriden for control axes and FFB Spring control is overridden with TelemFFB too. But since the harrier has static FFB, no loss there.

This also opens up more possibilities to enhance DCS FFB experience

Opposite, since razbam did not bother to implement moving ffb center point with trim, I managed to remedy this

What do you mean?
It should work on any aircraft including the upcoming F-15, if they don't implement it there too.
The way it works is I take virtual cockpit stick position, real physical stick position, do some math and send back adjusted input x,y values back to DCS. This way real stick (Rhino) is offset from center (trimmed), but DCS thinks it's at center.

If I read correctly what W wrote: once he releases next TelemFFB version you will specify in its config.ini file which aircraft you want to use it for. All the other modules are unaffected and you'll never have to touch the file again. It's probably just a line of plain text like override_DCS_input = YES (not the actual line) which you add under [AV-8B]. If you need the same for any other module, you just add the same line under [the other a/c handle].

It's a bit more involved. We need to also find the arguments for the stick position and export them with the telemetry packet for each aircraft separately in the LUA file as StickX and StickY (pedals will be added too in the future)

I run a similar configuration with Virpil:
Rhino+10cm extension + 20cm curved extension

Even with such config the DCS Mosquito is still untameable. Waiting on Walmis to introduce the axis sensitivity/curve in the vpforce app, since using DCS curves on FFB axis is borked.

The mozzie is definitely finicky to get the crosshairs on target but it flies well. One day it will hopefully just click for you

Mosquito is just too sensitive with a stick. I have to use a curve of 50 in DCS (without FFB) to fly it comfortably, it allows for much better guns control, and overall is pleasant. Without curves it's like 1mm up and it's stalling, 1mm down and it's diving...

That was my initial impression, yes
I got a little more into constantly trimming for starters
And I think my brain just got used to moving the stick by tickle only
I'm quite happy in it now and I've had some fun dogfighting it on the 4ya server too when an a8 shows up and thinks he can turnfight it

Yeah... Rhino's motor strength is perfect with 10cm extension, with the innate gimbal's height it's at ~23cm total + grip, at least to me. With the additional 20cm I added = yes, motors could be 30% stronger, but frankly I already got used to the current strength, so it doesn't bother me too much if at all....

also you need to set the brake saturation at 30 so when you touch them you dont nose over

my comments were about the ptich/roll axis, the FFB ones. The brakes are non-ffb so curves for those work just fine, yup..

Even on the f14 for example I’d like to have a bit either curve or stronger resistance. Which I know the stick itself is capable of but it just isn’t set up that way so idk

that stuff is really handy, I use it currently to mount my throttles as I swap them out, also for button boxes etc.

I use it to mount my bass shaker, and even my self built gimbal. It's not squishy like regular velcro, but more like a hard mounting plastic.
