Depending on the registrar, your current one may send you an email sooner or later to inform you of this transfer request. Some will also give you a link to approve/reject the request instantly instead of waiting for a week.

Yeah, whatever the email address is on the current registrar's account should receive an email at some point. It all varies by registrar tho, there's no requirement as to how they handle this outside of notifying you a successful request was made (as far as I'm aware of at least).

Successful request does not mean it was transferred, it simply means someone sent a successful request to have the transfer done (as in domain unlocked and correct transfer code entered). They can wait up to one week to auto approve if you don't stop it IIRC.

It's to protect domain owners from having domains quickly stolen by attackers basically.

In short, IF the other person got an email from the current registrar, and IF that registrar has an option for them to release the domain immediately, they can do that to finalize the process. Otherwise, give it about a week. If you don't have access to that registrar's account, you could search up for questions others had with said registrar on transferring domains from them and what to expect.
