We do not have information regarding any such change. Although you can still get a significant damage and can get eliminated with a fist. How fast you are going to be eliminated can vary depending on different factors such as your current health, the part of the body where you are hit, and whether you have any armor or not.

Didn't you say you logged in on your friend's Android device? Did you use the email login or the Google Play login? I assume the later since you said Gmail, but just to be sure.
